How planned & major giving teams can thrive on GivingTuesday

GivingTuesday is a global day of generosity that will take place on December 1, 2020. It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has become one of the biggest days of the year for nonprofit fundraising, as hundreds of millions are inspired to give.

In 2019, GivingTuesday generated more than $2 billion in giving to nonprofits in the United States. This year, the Coronavirus pandemic and massive job losses has caused a decrease in charitable donations — especially from cash gifts. This will make GivingTuesday more important than ever as a key part of year-end fundraising strategies.

Watch Patrick Schmitt, the Co-CEO of FreeWill, as he addresses how planned and major giving teams can make the most of their organization’s #GivingTuesday campaigns. He shares strategies for increasing bequest gifts, as well as major gifts from stocks, DAFs, and QCDs.

In this webinar, we covered:

  • The big message around GivingTuesday
  • #GivingTuesday campaign prep
  • Stock, DAFs, and QCD gifts on GivingTuesday
  • Email communications and cadence
  • Incorporating planned giving into GivingTuesday asks
