Key learnings from your New Year's Resolution campaigns
Hi friends,
Gracie here, a content writer for some of you and a content data analyst for all of you! To our newer partners, great to meet you from my bedroom-office in snowy Brooklyn.
I’m thrilled to report that an amazing 50% of our bequest partners sent out more than 280 pieces of New Year’s Resolution-themed outreach! And thanks to so many who reported your campaign performance stats back to your strategists, I’m happy to share our key learnings from your resolution content as we head into the rest of 2021:
Keep prioritizing standalone bequest email campaigns. You’ve heard it before, but email did better than ever this January with 88% of bequests resulting from email outreach as compared with other outreach channels. That statistic surpasses all past campaigns by five percentage points!
Your future-focused language resonated — and generated gifts! With 2020 behind us, it seems that more hopeful, forward-looking content was precisely what so many of your supporters wanted to hear. Your outreach moved your supporters to make more bequests than they did during any other 2020 campaign to your organizations, simply by reminding them to build a better future for their loved ones and the world.
Planning a bequest campaign may feel minor, but the results can be major! On the heels of a tough year and tighter budgets for nonprofits and your supporters alike, our bequest partners raised a total of $15.2M in commitments through their resolution-themed outreach. If you’re deliberating sending a campaign, remember (and I apologize in advance for this cheesy rhyme): when in doubt, don’t sit it out.
Looking forward to watching these learnings inform your upcoming FreeWill campaigns for tax season, spring cleaning, and beyond!
All the best from your Content Team,
Gracie Farese

P.S. We’re so grateful to all of you who used the tagged UTM links we provided in your outreach! Without these, we’d have no data to share learnings from. (Unsure whether you’ve used UTMs correctly, or what they are? Find a resource here, or ping your strategist!)
