Why partner content matters

Our team often talks about the “what,” “when,” and “how” of outreach — what you can expect from our upcoming campaign, when the best time of year is to send content, and how our copy performed.
But for today’s newsletter, we wanted to take a step back and focus on why partner outreach is so essential to securing planned giving commitments from your supporters.

Nearly half of bequests coming through partners’ FreeWill websites stem from outreach. Our partners have raised over $675 million in bequests through their sites — 47% of which was driven through an email, newsletter, or another piece of outreach. By not sending outreach, you may be missing almost half of all potential bequests that your supporters can designate to your mission!

Consistent testing hones our content best practices. David Ogilvy said, “Never stop testing, and your advertising will never stop improving.” Our team takes this to heart, and our partner outreach often tests strategies that work across various sizes and sectors of nonprofits — and can generate learnings specific to your organization.

It may be a no-brainer, but our Content Team will draft, review, and create copy in your organization’s voice to ultimately save your team time and energy in crafting planned giving outreach! Even if you choose to make adjustments, our content can provide a base of best practices to work off — as well as tracking links, which are essential to partner success.

One more outreach tip to increase your success: send emails! Emails are consistently our top-performing outreach — driving ~90% of outreach-based bequests and their dollar amounts.
