Health research, education, and advocacy: Fundraising during the Coronavirus pandemic

Nonprofits across the country are moving quickly to understand and react to the current COVID-19 pandemic, both in how they provide services and how they maintain financial stability in these turbulent times.

For health-focused nonprofits, now is a uniquely critical time. Many support populations that are at high risk of severe outcomes with COVID-19 and are working to educate on an ever-evolving situation. At the same time, the need for resources to continue their work remains as great as ever.

Many teams are facing similar questions:

  • How do we balance the solicitation of gifts with an increase in education and awareness campaigns? How can this solicitation be done thoughtfully with a high-risk population?
  • How should we change who we’re reaching out to for donations? Should we be restricting our lists or expanding them right now?
  • How do we meaningfully steward donors without in-person interactions?

Watch Patrick Schmitt, co-founder of FreeWill, and representatives from the American Heart Association, the American Diabetes Association, and the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center explore how leading nonprofits in the healthcare space are shifting how they work, engaging with donors, and continuing to generate needed funds during a turbulent time.
