New ways to reflect your faith tradition throughout the will-creation experience.

FreeWill now offers more customization options in Partner Portal so your community's estate planning experience can better reflect your faith tradition. These new customizations are available for funeral wishes, children and guardianship of minors, and personal statements.

Funeral wishes: you can add hyperlinks within this section to send supporters directly to additional resources, such as a funeral home, cemetery, burial site, or denominational directory.

Children and guardianship of minors: you can add guidance to help supporters think through how their children's spiritual upbringing and connection to community might continue if something unexpected happens.

Personal statement: you can add guidance that encourages supporters to reflect on spiritual legacy, gratitude, and the role of faith and community in their lives. Note that this customization applies to the will flow only, not the trust flow.

A note on customization content: because customized language may create a risk of undue influence claims that could affect a donor's gift to your organization, you're responsible for reviewing your own customization content and being comfortable with that risk. Customizations also shouldn't include any commentary or instructions that are unlawful.

These customizations are available to you now at no additional cost, and can be updated at any time.

Your next steps:

  1. Watch the video above for a walkthrough of the new options.

  2. Navigate to Customizations > Wills & Trusts, then scroll to the section you'd like to update: funeral wishes, children and guardianship of minors, or personal statement
  3. Review your customization language with your team before publishing, given the note above.
