A new way to learn directly from your named donors about why they give.
As part of Named Donor Stewardship, donors who complete a bequest through your FreeWill pages now receive a short Giving Survey. It's a simple, low-lift way to learn more about your donors' motivations, and the responses show up right in your Partner Portal.
How it works:
One day after a donor creates or updates their estate plan, they'll receive an email with a link to the Giving Survey (subject line: "Giving Survey - Tell us why you give, [donor's first name]"). Seven days later, they'll also receive a thank you email from your organization as part of Named Donor Stewardship, which includes another link to the survey.
This is the Giving Survey specifically for named donors. It's a separate survey from the Anonymous Donor Survey, which isn't tied to Named Donor Stewardship and isn't visible to partners.
Where you'll see responses:
Giving Survey responses appear directly on that donor's gift details page in Portal. You can also filter your gift list to see only donors who've responded, and this is included in your existing filter and export functionality. Note that email engagement metrics for the survey aren't available yet.
A few things to know:
If a donor switches from named to anonymous, their previously visible Giving Survey responses will be hidden on their Portal page.
You won't currently receive a separate notification (like a gift notification) when a survey is sent, though you'll see responses land in Portal as donors complete them.
If you'd prefer to turn off the Giving Survey for your donors, you can do that at any time.

Review your Gift Details page in Portal to see if any Giving Survey responses have already come in.-

- Let us know if you'd like the Giving Survey turned off for your organization.
